This is a recording of one of the North Yorkshire LOC virtual meetings for 2020.

In this lecture Polly Dickerson, a consultant ophthalmologist from York hospitals will present 3 cases of patients referred into hospital by optometrists. The cases, and referrals are real and will be anonymised. For each case, the presenter will discuss the presenting symptoms of the patient, prompting attendees to think of the likely diagnosis, the quality of the information provided on the referral and likely next steps in terms of further investigation and treatment.

The aim of the session is to help optometrists understand what information is required by the hospital when writing a referral, to help improve local referrals.
